And the winner is… Holly Edsall. Holly Edsall is not the average high school girl slumming in the hallways wearing sweats. Her skills on and off the field separate her from many other students at the school.

Volleyball Has Eyes Set on Playoffs
Last year, Atholton Volleyball had an unfortunate early exit at the hands of River Hill. This year, the team thrived and defeated the Hawks in three sets and currently have an 8-1 record. The team has all the ingredients to be dangerous in the playoffs and are poised to make a deep run to the state championship.

Girls Soccer Magical Season Continues
Merry Clinchmas! After their big win against Wilde Lake on Thursday, October 20th, the Lady Raiders have clinched the county title. This year, the Lady Raiders (10-1-2) have used combined grit, goals, and overtime victories to make them the cream of the Howard County crop this year.

The Wheels on the Activity Bus Go ‘Round and ‘Round
Fifty years after its creation, Atholton High School continues to provide new opportunities for students seeking to become active participants in its community. This year, Atholton welcomes its first ever Activity Bus, a school-sponsored bus departing Atholton every Tuesday at 3:45 in the afternoon.

AHS Focuses on Spirit for Homecoming Court
The King and Queen have been overthrown and a new Homecoming Court is in town. On October 5th, Atholton joined the ranks of trailblazing schools across the country who have switched from a boy-girl Homecoming court to one unbounded by gender restrictions.

Math Team Adds Another Win
Not everybody has to be an athlete to be on a team. Some of Atholton’s best team achievements have come from school sponsored clubs, like the Math Team. The math team has won second place in 2013, third in 2014 and 2015, and is aiming for gold in 2016.

County Labors Over New Start Date
Since the 1990s, Howard County Public Schools have begun the student school year in late August, either a week or two weeks before Labor Day weekend; however, this might no longer be the case for next school year.
