Q. If teaching didn’t work out for you, where do you think you would be today?
A. The other career I was considering pursuing would be being a veterinarian, so I always loved working with dogs or really any animals, but I thought that might be an interesting career path as well.
Q. If you were a student, would you be your favorite teacher?
A. I would like to think so, I guess. I try to be the best teacher I can for my students, so I would hope I am their favorite as well.
Q. Where did you go to college?
A. I went to James Madison University for my undergraduate, and then I went to Towson to get my Masters degree.
Q. Did you like it?
A. I did. I liked both schools very much.
Q. How long have you been teaching?
A. This is my first year officially. I did student teaching last year which I interned at Reservoir High School and at Murray Hill Middle.
Q. How has Atholton been different than other places you’ve taught at?
A. Atholton has a really good sense of community here, where people really work together and help each other out which I have been enjoying a lot.
Q. What’s the best part about this school?
A. Probably the people because I really enjoy the other staff members and engaging with other staff members. Also the students are really great, very driven, want to do well and are just good kids all around.
Q. How do you interact with your students to keep them engaged?
A. Real world applications I think is a big thing, so keeping it as relevant as you can. Also just making it as fun as you can, like doing some sort of game or some sort of group work activity.
Q. What inspires you to teach?
A. The students. Definitely just helping the students is a big part of teaching because I want to help them do better. Especially in Math, because Math can be a difficult one. I just enjoy helping them and making sure they succeed.
