Mikey Williams’ new season at Vertical Academy has had many very exciting moments and some hardships he had to go through. Vertical Academy has one of the best and most famous high school basketball players in the world, such as. Mikey Williams, A sophomore at Lake Norman Cristan High school. The school he went to before Lake Norman was Ysidro High school where he was on varsity and destroyed the competition. He scored 77 points in 1 game breaking their school’s record. He transferred to Lake Norman Cristan High school looking for more competition and to hopefully get recognized by colleges. and is the 16th ranked in the nation and also has over 3 million followers on Instagram, making him one of the most famous high schoolers in the world.
One of his hardships during the season was the game with Donda Academy, which has a record of 8 wins and 7 losses. Compared to Vertical Academy which has 5 wins and 9 losses, Donda Academy is the favorite to win. Even though the game was back and forth between both teams, Donda pulled out ahead of Vertical Academy with the score being 83 to 73.
Mikey has had a really great season so far averaging 28.7 points, 4.3 assists, and 5.8 rebounds a game. These stats are comparable to some of the greatest basketball players ever in their high school career like Lebron James who averaged 29.1 points, 6.3 assists, and 7.7 rebounds a game.
There were so many other good teams but none of them compared to Donda because of the great talent they have like 5 star player Robert Dillingham, 4 star player Zion Cruz, and 4 star player Jalen Hooks. These players are enough to make Donda Academy a huge threat to any of the top teams. Despite this, Mikely Williams still did a great job against them. Chris Martin, a sophomore at Atholton high school said, “The game was good mainly because of Mikey.”
The last time we had a talent like Mikey Williams was when Kevin Durant played. Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the NBA as of right now. Mikey Williams already has many offers to promising schools such as UCLA and Arizona. These colleges have produced some great basketball players. There have been other hard games such as the game between OTE Leitao. These games help shape Mikey into the player he is today. Mikey has also worked really hard to get where he is by continuing to work during the off season. He practices with many great players and trainers who help him develop his game. Another one of his hardships is he switched schools twice already and he is only a sophomore. He still has a lot of time left in his season to keep improving and also has 2 more years in high school to get more D1 offers. His team has been doing pretty good considering he is new to the team and the team will only get better. He has a lot of room to grow and I think he is gonna have a great rest of the season.
