Q. Where did you go to college?

A. I graduated from Indiana State University and then I have a masters from Indiana University of Bloomington.

Q. How long have you been teaching?

A. This is the year number 19 for me to teach.

Q. How has Atholton been different than other schools that you’ve taught?

A. I think every school has their own individuality. The thing I like about Atholton is everybody is just very nice, very respectful, and the diversity of this school is wonderful.

Q Where were you teaching before Atholton?

A. I moved from Indiana, I was at Carmel High School in Indiana.

Q. What are the best and worst things about this school?

A. So far, the students and the staff and the new principal is just great, I love everything about that. I would say the worst thing is the parking.

Q. How do you interact with your students to keep them engaged?

A. I try to use a lot of real-life examples. Because I teach physics it can get kind of boring if you just talk, so I try to use real-life examples and things they would see.

Q. What would you have done if teaching didn’t work out?

A. I don’t know, probably something with IT or computer engineering

Q.  What inspired you to become a teacher?

A. My mom is a teacher, so since I grew up as a teacher’s kid I always knew I wanted to teach. I picked science because I was intrigued by things changing.

Q. If you were a student would you be your favorite teacher?

A. Probably not to be honest. As I student I liked things to be very structured and organized but we know that’s not how most students learn, so I try to get a little more freedom that’s why I don’t think I would have liked myself as much, but that’s what is good for kids.

I picked science because I was intrigued by things changing.

Q. What is your favorite sports team?

A.  I watch college football so I like the Michigan Wolverines, I grew up being a fan of Michigan. The Ravens are gonna be my local team. It took me a few weeks but I’ve finally decided.

Q. What is your favorite TV Show?

A. My favorite TV show is The Flash. It’s so good. I Netflix-binged all summer.

Q. What is your favorite Dunkin/Starbucks order?

A. I’m an Iced Vanilla Latte person
