Q: Where did you go to college?

A: That’s pretty easy, I went to Towson University.

Q: What is your favorite sports team?

A: I don’t watch sports that much, but I guess I like the New York Giants because my dad grew up in New York/ New Jersey. So I support them because of him.

Q: So far, what is the best and worst thing about Atholton?

A: The best thing so far, I mean, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my students. I can’t really think of the worst thing. I don’t know. I pretty much like everything. Is that okay, not to dislike anything? So far everything is going well.

Q: If you were a student would you be your favorite teacher?

A: (Chuckle) I would hope so, I always really liked math and my math teachers, so I feel like I would get along with myself. […] I try to be a teacher I know I would like as a student, so that’s my goal.

Q: What ways do you interact with your students to try and keep them engaged with the class?

A: I guess I do a variety of things. First of all, getting to know them pretty well, like on an individual basis. If you want to look over there, I had [students] make little half sheets of paper about themselves. It’s fun to look over there so I could get to know them. I really like when they tell me about events that they have going on, like if they’re on a sports team or something, and if they want to brag about anything they can stick it on a post-it note  and put it up there.

As far as keeping them engaged, making it interesting and encouraging them to talk to each other and collaborate with each other rather than me just being up there and talking the whole time.

Q: If teaching didn’t work out where do you think you’d be now?

A: I guess it depends if it’s realistic or not, I really like food and trying new food so it would be fun to be some sort of food critic or food taste tester.

Q: What inspired you to be a teacher?

A: I always really liked math and helping other people in math. In high school I started tutoring and I really enjoyed it, and then I also had many teachers in my life that had an impact on me and I wanted to kind of do that same thing for my students.

Q: What is your go-to Dunkin’ or Starbucks order?

A: It depends. At Dunkin’, I guess I usually get either a french vanilla or caramel iced coffee, and then Starbucks I’m kind of all over the place. It’s just whatever I am in the mood for.

Q: You have four hours to binge watch a show. What are you watching, and what’s your go-to snack?

A: That is a really big toss-up, but I’m going to have to say Parks and Rec. For a snack […] it would have to be something sweet and something salty. So maybe pretzels and one cookie or something. I like the balance.
