Would you say that the Baltimore Ravens have a good chance of making an appearance in 2024’s Super Bowl LVIII? Throughout the 2023 season, the Baltimore Ravens have done very well with their record of 11-3. They are also the number one seed in the AFC division. Of course I’m going to say their Super bowl bound.
Given their recent performance, this year this is considered the Ravens best season since 2020, when quarterback Lamar Jackson in that same season beat famous quarterback Michael Vick’s record for most rushing yards. The 2012 season is the last time the Ravens won the Super Bowl.
According to Fox Sports, the Ravens have the seventh best offense in the league, but having their defense ranked second in the league makes up for the offensive ranking.
Fans say that there wouldn’t be anything to be upset about as long as they make an appearance at the Super Bowl. According to Atholton senior, Tyler Mathews, “The stat line shows the Ravens have a 99.7% chance of going to and winning Super Bowl LVIII.”
The offense has managed to do an amazing job. Rookie Zay Flowers leads the team in receiving yards with 680 yards this season. Behind him is Nelson Agholor, Rashod Bateman, and Odell Beckham Jr., leading the team in rushing yards is starting running back Gus Edwards with 214 yards.
The defense has truly earned their number two spot in the NFL standings. The linebacker duo Patrick Queen and Roquan Smith have dominated the field. These two have made countless stops beneficial to help the Ravens overall record.
They do a great job containing the running game from the opposing team. The players that help put a stop to receiving yards allowed are the defensive backs Kyle Hamilton, Jaylen Amour-Davis behind Ya-sin and Kevin Seymour.
The roster plus the coaching staff seems to be enough for the Ravens to be all the way this year. Can they bring back their Super Bowl winning team?
The Ravens bring more and more fans to believe that they will make another Super Bowl appearance. Atholton history teacher, Mr. Schmitz agreed, “Yes, absolutely they are bound to, yeah they’re seed number two, seed number one is the Dolphins. We play the Dolphins in a few weeks so we can take care of business, so we control our own destiny.”
He also emphasized, “The way things are shaping up in the AFC it seems like everything is falling in place for the Ravens to go all the way.”
On Sunday December 10th, the Ravens came out on top in the dog fight against the Los Angeles Rams 37-31. It was one of the toughest games of the season so far and went into overtime. In the first OT position the Ravens weren’t able to get a touchdown, or a field goal to end the game.
But, neither were the Rams; they were forced to punt the ball on 4th down. Third year punt returner Tylan Wallace was the savior of the day, and made a great punt return to end the game in overtime, shutting down all hope for the Los Angeles Rams.
Although this game was tough it will shape the rest of the way for the Ravens to go all the way. With tough games against the Jaguars, the 49ers, the Dolphins, and the Steelers, I still believe they will take back the number 1 seed in the AFC division and win Super Bowl LVIII.
On December 17 the Ravens came out on top with another win destroying the Jacksonville Jaguars. Although the Ravens had a good game, they did suffer a loss, their running back, Keaton Mitchell tore his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season.
It’s looking like Isiah Likely, the tight end who is in for star player Mark Andrews, has had perfect chemistry with Lamar Jackson for the past couple of games. It was a blow out with the scoring being 23-7. This win has secured us a spot in the playoffs, and if the Ravens keep up the winning streak they could have a bye week for the first round of playoffs.
Although the Ravens are showing exceptional stats throughout the season, there are doubts about their consistency with this winning season. In the past, there have been moments where the Ravens have had win streaks and time after time they have had what fans call a “Ravens moment”.
A Ravens moment is when they make mistakes that simply make no sense. A Ravens moment is also when they lose to a team that has worse records than them, or less talent than the Ravens.
This lack of consistency that Ravens haters speak about usually shows around the playoffs. According to our home team’s football star Anthony Ngansi, “ They lack consistency, the Ravens always have an either good, or decent season they never get past the first or second round of the playoffs.”
This hater in his prime claims that the Raven’s are a team that has countless injuries. Referring to the 2022 season where nearly Baltimore’s whole starting lineup was out on injury.
It’s believed that the Ravens main problem of why they haven’t made another Super Bowl appearance is that they lost their consistency. After the Super Bowl the Ravens have shown potential of being that team from February 3, 2013.
But, as the haters say, they lack consistency. The main problems the Ravens have shown is that players get injured a lot during the regular season. This makes them switch in backups who barely play during the playoff season.
Those backups make unbelievable mistakes that end up costing the game/season. These soul reasons bring the haters to the point of why they don’t think the Ravens can even make it past the playoffs.
